I use MiKTeX 2.8, which I have recently installed in place of the version 2.7, with the most recent updates available. Today I tried to typeset my 1.5 month old project using powerdot class and found out that it generates a blank page with 'preamble' word at the bottom left before all other pages. Here is my MWE:
I did a test with the code posted (compiling with latex, dvips and ps2pdf) and obtained the PDF file that I attach. Did you get the PDF file that you attached with the code you just posted?
Sure, this file is generated with the source I have posted. Here I also attach the generated DVI and PS files. I used MiKTeX 2.8 with all the recent packages posted on March, 30.

I can confirm the problem on a MiKTeX 2.8 system. This is definitely a major malfunction thus a note to the maintainer of the powerdot class is recommendable. Add the \listfiles command as the very first line to your sample code, start a run and submit it together with the complete log file to the author.
Thanks a lot for your reply. I just tried to access the author's mailinglist and found the report for this problem there. The author suggested to get the latest version from CTAN archive. I tried it, this version solves the problem. It is just not yet added to the MiKTeX repository.
Both CTAN and the MiKTeX database list version 1.3 dated 2005/06/12. So something is going wrong. And the version in the log file is identical. From my point of view only the maintainer can resolve this. In the manual there is no alternative source where to get newest version of the class.
The class file generated from powerdot.dtx is marked as version "2005/12/06 v1.3" although it differs even from the 2006 version and is copyrighted as "Copyright (C) 2005-2006, 2010 ..." I think the maintainer should update the version info.
