Can I specify my own reference labels?

I have a bibliography with a number of texts, but I want to label them how I choose. Currently the labels are [1], [2], [3], etc. but I'd like the labels of my primary texts to [T], [E], etc. What's the easiest way of doing this?

Also, I'd like to separate the references in the bibliography like this:

Primary texts
[T]
[E]
Secondary texts
[1]
[2]

As before, the easiest way possible would be appreciated (just coming to grips with LaTeX at the mo, so I'm finding my feet a bit!).

Hi,

you could use the multibib package. Please refer to the package documentation.
