hyperref problem with bibliography referring to "(document)"

Post by vecdeal »

I'm using hyperref to create a pdf thesis, and in general my bibliography hyperlinks work great: after each reference in the bibliography I get a hyperlink with the section number numer I can click on, and it takes me to the place where the reference is mentioned.

My problem is that I refer to one of my references in the preamble to the document, in an un-numbered section called "Declaration of authorship", which falls before any numbered chapters or sections. Here, in the bibliography reference, where I would normally see a section number hyperlink, it inserts the text "(document)", and when clicked-on takes you to the very first page. Ideally I would like it to say "(Declaration)", and take me to the relevant page.

This is the section where I refer to the reference:

\thispagestyle{empty}
\pdfbookmark{Declaration}{Declaration}
\section*{Declaration of authorship}
Blah blah blah \cite{R997Bernasconi08s} blah blah blah

and this is what the item in the bibliography ends up looking like:

Bernasconi, D.J. & Richelsen, P.M. (2008). A higher-order potential flow method for thick bodies, thin surfaces and wakes. International Journal for Numerical Methods in Engineering, 73, 706–727. (document)

I've tried inserting \hyperdef{Declaration}{Declaration} after the \section* but this makes no difference.

This is the very last thing I need to fix before submitting my PhD thesis so I'd be very grateful for any help!

Thanks,

Dan
