Page Layout ⇒ Need to use different layout for different pages

Hi,
I have found nice template for my documents before, but now I need to modify it. I need to preserve first two pages (title and list of contents) as they are and use something else for the rest of the document. In the rest I need to use margin notes, but I'd like to have them below the header a divided by a line. When I change the size of the margin notes area, it change in the whole document and the header does not fit the paper width, moreover the title page is destroyed. Generally the problem is, how to divide (in some part of the document) the body into two columns, where the left one will be used for margin notes or comments. Can anybody help me?
