lyx 2.0 beta available? really need on the fly spellchecking

Post by tplehn »

Hello,
on the Internet, I read about on the fly spell checking in lyx and that it should be available in the future version 2.0. Now, I am looking for a beta or something, to do in-line spell checking, because I have a long Master thesis with lots of typing errors to fix. Or is there any other possibility to only use the desired feature?
A workaround would be to export the latex code to another editor able to do spell-checking.

Recommended reading 2024:

LaTeXguide.org • LaTeX-Cookbook.net • TikZ.org

NEW: TikZ book now 40% off at Amazon.com for a short time.

I would go with the workaround. There are editors with inline spellchecking capabilities like Texmaker, TeXMakerX, TeXworks etc.

In general, your option is an excellent idea. But the problem is that lyx seems not to be able to import its own, self-written tex files. (graphics broken)

If you want to write your documents like you would do with LyX, you should take a look at TeXmacs [1]. But I don't know if it provides the feature you need.

[1] View topic: TeXmacs - now natively runs on Windows
