How to configure Winedt for XeTex?

Post by eastrock »

Hi all, I am desperately looking for a usefull and comprehensible instruction on how to configure Winedt to use XeTex. All I could find ar absolutely superficial or incomprehensible posts. I am not a computer scientist, but just a regular user of Latex!!! I also would appreciate hearing about alternatives to Winedt that work with XeTex (Texnic, Winshell, etc.).

Thanks a lot,

Johannes

You don't say why you want to use XeTeX. WinEdt does not do full UTF-8 editing, and so if you want things like complex accents, arabic, CJK input, etc., then an alternative tool is called for. Obvious candidates would be TeXworks and TeXnicCenter v2 (currently both pre-release but quite usable).
