Figures, tables on recto side only

Post by charvey1 »

Hello,

I'm struggling to make my thesis format conform to my university regulations.
A candidate may opt to print text on both sides of the paper provided that the paper is of sufficient weight to ensure that the text is perfectly legible. Diagrams, tables or graphs incorporated into the thesis may be placed on the verso side of a sheet provided nothing appears on the recto side.
I have used both sides of the paper. Given the (strange?) rule about having a blank recto side when a figure is on the verso side, I want LaTeX to place images on the recto side only.

Does anyone know if it is possible to do this? I can find no previous threads on this. Apologies if I've missed one.

Thank you in advance.

Chris

That is a very odd requirement. I would recommend that you post this problem on the comp.text.tex newsgroup (you can use google groups if you like), there might be more wizards there, who might be able to help.

Indeed very questionable requirements. Take a close look at Section 26 (Figures on Even or Odd Pages, p. 97ff) of the epslatex document. Follow the explanations carefully.

If it were me, I would make an inquiry about this with your graduate college. I read that passage as suggesting that figures and tables may be on verso pages with blank recto pages, not that they must be, but only your school's administrators would know.

Thanks for your replies. I've asked for clarification from the research office. Hopefully it means what frabjous thinks. If not, then I'll start following the other advice.
