BiBTeX cannot start MiKTeX package manager (achemso)

Post by muchalh »

Hi,

I was using the achemso package without any problems about 2 weeks ago. Today when I run BiBTeX I get the following error:

Code: Select all

This is BibTeX, Version 0.99c (MiKTeX 2.8)
The top-level auxiliary file: 200912.aux
================
bibtex: Cannot start MiKTeX package manager
bibtex: Data: Invalid syntax
================
I couldn't open style file achemso.bst
---line 15 of file 200912.aux
 : \bibstyle{achemso
 :                  }
I'm skipping whatever remains of this command
I found no style file---while reading file 200912.aux
(There were 2 error messages)
The thing is, the achemso package (by Joseph Wright) is installed but I looked under ...\MiXTeX 2.8\bibtex\bst\achemso and it was empty (no .bst files). I opened the Package manager and it works fine. I even uninstalled and installed achemso package again to no avail.

I'm using Win7 but also tried the same thing on a fresh install of MiXTeX on a WinXP machine.

Everything works if I change the \bibliographystyle but it doesn't if I phisically copy the required .bst files to .\MiXTeX 2.8\bibtex\bst\achemso

Any ideas?

Cheers,

muchalh

Have your tried updating MiKTeX? This is probably a bug in the MiKTeX binaries. If that does not work, I think you'd be best reporting the issue to Christian Schenk.
