Problem displaying graphics
Hi,
I have imported some excel charts into LyX and have some trouble with the output.
I have converted my chart to the eps format in excel and imported it to LyX with success. In LyX, everything seems good but when I lpdf my file, the chart takes the whole page which is a bit of a problem when it is small and the caption is at the bottom of the page. I tried to crop my eps chart with Photoshop without much success. I realize this is not a problem with LyX but did anyone here encounter similar problem?
Any suggestions?

Hello,
when the graphic is too large in the output, then I scale the output Width. In the screenshot I took 20 Scale%.

Hi Gusto,
Thanks for your suggestion.
I've found that by cropping my graph from a screen snapshot and converting it to pse I could fix the problem without loosing quality once resized in LyX.

Re: Problem displaying graphics
I've been getting very poor graphics resolution in the final pdf using the recent version of lyx. Has anyone else had the same problem? When i check the graphics elsewhere they look just fine, with enough quality and the right size.

Re: Problem displaying graphics
Hi Stefan,
my graphics are in EPS format, but i also tried with PDF. The odd thing is that it worked just fine with the older versions of lyx, but not anymore. I wonder if there is a optimal resolution or size to use, because some of my figures have very high resolution. Please help! Is my PhD thesis.

Hi Mola,
is eps or pdf the original format? Or did you convert a bitmap format to eps or pdf, like jpg or bmp? You've mentioned high resolution, but eps and pdf support scalable vector graphics format that should have good quality even with high magnification.
Perhaps post such a graphic file here as attachment to clarify it.

Re: Problem displaying graphics
well, some of the graphics were created as bitmaps and others as vector graphics, and it didn´t make much difference. What's odd is that i pretty much worked like that before and the figures managed to be ok. I attach one of the files that i made as a vector graphic originally and it still looks bad in my document.

Re: Problem displaying graphics
That file as a good quality. I've tested it inside a document with LyX 1.5.3 and there was no problem, the same with pdflatex.
Perhaps post also a LyX file showing the problem and your pdf output too to compare.

I don’t have any problems either with that PDF-File. What are your settings in LyX and do you use pdflatex (the button with the Acrobat logo)?
