lalop I guess it's a good suggestion to switch to full-on-latex. However all the layouting staff I've already done in LyX holds me off. It would be cumbersome to do it all over again.

You only really have to do layouting once (unless you're like submitting to multiple journals or something, which actually kind of blows if they don't have default files for you) and then you're gold. I try a bit to help people with this "once layout" because it's a very efficient use of help, so feel free to pm me, or even request a template.

I'm going to preempt you: I made this template for someone not a few weeks ago and, although it may not be exactly right for you, it might give some good ideas (or even be usable).

Edit: The news said lyx was just updated, you can also see if they fixed some of your bugs.
