Ref commend problem

Post by bmanx06 »

I am a novice at LaTeX.
For some reason, the \ref command outputs the type of object I am referencing in addition to its number, and not just the number itself.

For example, if I reference a figure, the output is Figure 1, instead of just 1 (or Table 1 instead of just 1). In my document, I refer to figures as "Fig." so when I use the \ref command I get Fig. Figure 1.

Anyone know what's going on?
I appreciate the help.

Hi there,

I guess a bit more info would be helpful. Give us an example on how you declare a figure, and how you reference it???

Cheers

Sounds like you have varioref or similar loaded. Please post a minimal example, including the document class you use and any packages loaded.
