DATA RECOVERY!
I did not actually press the 'save' button, but compiled all the way through whilst debugging. I kept getting the "no pdf output produced" which is normal for techixcentre as I got it many times before. I thus restarded the program -- as it does frequently get rid of that issue-- and then realised that my file has not been saved (even though it was the second time I restarded , and I did manage to get my file back the first time). It is nowhere to be found!

Re: DATA RECOVERY!
I'm not sure I can help with your problem (I guess you have tried re-openinng TeXnicCenter and your file), but in future it might be a good idea to set TeXnicCenter to save before every compilation
You can change it by going Tools > Options > File and checking the "Save all before Compilation" box
At least that will ensure the problem doesn't happen again!

Re: DATA RECOVERY!
Thanks,
The option was on. I've lost the little amount of trust I had left for Texniccenter.

DATA RECOVERY!
I think this is not an issue related to TeXnicCenter (TXC). This is the first report I ever read about data loss in this regard.noctur wrote:[...] I've lost the little amount of trust I had left for Texniccenter. [...]
Try your luck with a data recovery tool like Recuva. If there haven't been yet too much writing processes to the concerned partition of your hard disk, you may be able to recover your work.
Best regards

What version of TexnicCenter did you use?noctur wrote:I did not actually press the 'save' button, but compiled all the way through whilst debugging. Re: DATA RECOVERY!
Nothing you wrote makes any sense.
"No pdf output produced" is not from texniccenter but from pdftex, and has absolutely NOTHING to do with texniccenter, restarting Texniccenter could not have had any effect on it whatsoever.
What I can imagine is that the texfiles were locked by another application and hence a save was not possible, but this is still very far-fetched.
Seems like its totally your own fault and blaming everything else first is not a good start to finding a solution.

Re: DATA RECOVERY!
Maybe he has a very slow computer and hence file locking problems.
Also, what TeX distribution do you use?
