Problem with Miktex 2.8

Post by mavmay »

Hi All,

I am using TexnicCenter 1.0 with a Miktex 2.8 installation on a 64 bit windows vista system. However, I am not able to build any file due to the following error:

"pdflatex.exe: gui framework cannot be initialized".

I looked for a solution online and found a remedy on the Miktex site saying that I have to change the "Install missing packages" to "Yes" or "No".

Even though I did this, I still get the same problem!!!

Please help. I am desperately looking for a solution.

Thanks in advance,

Usually the measures you took should solve the problem. Since TeXnicCenter 2.0 alpha 1 (Build 1012) has some problems with 64bit systems, I suggest to use the TeXworks editor temporarily. It is delivered with the current MiKTeX version. You can find it in the start menu folder of MiKTeX. If not, install it with the MiKTeX Package Manager.

Problem is probably related to a bad install.
Uninstall miktex and reinstall it again.
I have no problems whatsoever with miktex/texniccenter (1/2alpha) on a x64 system.

Another solution could be that Miktex 2.8 offers two different settings, for user and for admin. Use the admin settings to allow on-the-fly installation of packages.

Most likely, you're missing a package that needs to be installed.
