Has anyone heard anything recently about when a full (i.e., non-testing) version of TeXlive 2009 will finally be released?
They've made it sound like it is imminent for awhile now, but I'm getting impatient. I want to do a complete system rehaul (upgrading to Ubuntu 9.10 with grub2 and ext4 indexing), but I don't want to have to install TeXlive twice, and I can't live without a stable TeX system.
Any news?

Probably some time in the next week. However, you can install the pretesting version now, and update as an when. The pretesting version doesn't "known" it's not the release: it will happily keep working after release, update as new packages appear, etc.

Thanks. I can wait a week. I'll just cross my fingers that the rumors are true this time!

Great news. Hope it won't miss Debian/Ubuntu repos like 2008 did.

That is not the TeX LIve team's fault! I believe that there are experimental Debian packages, so the chance of it appearing is good.

It seems it'll hit Debian experimental repos soon. Can't wait
