Graphics, Figures & Tables ⇒ Caption in multiple lines

Hello, I'm writing a conference paper in Latex. It is a two-column document. For some reason the table captions are divided into multiple lines even though the caption text is short enough to fit in a single line. This happends for every table in the document. There are no problems with figure captions.

I appreciate useful comments
