Latex-Code AND on-the-fly-conversion?

Post by suleiman »

Hi everyone,
today I tested Lyx (worked with Kile before) and it looks good except for one big flaw: I'm used to type very quickly (changed the keyboard so that I had \, {, } with one keystroke) so I can't get used to Lyx' math mode (working with cursor keys :-( ), but the ERT possibility looks good for me - if its text would be converted to the math symbol I want right away.
So is there any way to have something like "a math mode with ERT-typing possibility" , just put my hand on the keyboard and type (the latex source-window would be good if it was editable)?

If it really offers a live preview while typing it's exactly what I was looking for. Thanks a lot. Seems extremely strange to me Lyx doesn't have this feature since it should be easy to implement something like that (just ERT and the math mode combined).

It does offer a live preview while typing--well, there is some lag, depending on the complexity of the document. However, you don't type into the preview window, but into the code window, but it does update the preview as you type. It's early in development, and still has some kinks that need to be worked out. I wouldn't consider it a stable editor, though I'm looking forward to seeing what happens with it.
