I was not satisfied with appendices defined via
\appendix
\chapter{First}
..
\chapter{Second}
..
and tried to use just one chapter named Appendices and a number of section within it. And I need also to use another name instead of "Appendix" for sections, so I wrote something like
\renewcommand{\thesection}{NonstandardAppendixName \Alph{section}:}
However, the \tableofcontents command does not seem to have recognized correctly my redefinition, in particular it did not recognize that the
length of the "NonstandardAppendixName" has become larger. So the result is that "NonstandardAppendixName" overlaps with the names of sections in the table of contents. The problem is only with the \tableofcontents, in the text everything looks fine.
I need to make \tableofcontents know about the appendix-name-redefinition!
Good ideas from specialists are very much appreciated!
Best wishes,
JohnSt
