General ⇒ .tex file does not open in texnic center

Hello

I am very new to Latex. I use the Miktex distribution together with TexnicCenter on a win xp machine. Everything worked out fine.

However, since this morning I cannot open the .tex file in the editor. If I doubleclick on the file (the file is still associated with TexnicCenter - I see the correct icon) TexnicCenter is launched but I cannot see the code written to the file.

any suggestions?

Check in the explorer whether the file has any contents by looking at its size. Open it with a simple text editor if necessary.

Hi,

thanks for your answer. I could open the .tex file in TexShop on my Mac. Everything seems allright. However, when I try to open the same file with TexnicCenter on my IBM thinkpad, the code does not appear as it usually does. Not even the blank new file is shown.

A re-installation of the current version of TeXnicCenter (TXC) may help.
