Greeting from UK

Post by salehin »

Hello everyone

I'm an economics research student. I came across (La)TeX long time ago. But at that time, I didn't realise its power. The actual realisation came last year when a very good friend showed me some really useful tools for LaTeX (WinEdt, MikTeX, etc). Because editing/writing via TeXeditor (like WinEdt and others) is not very easy (especially for new users), I ended up using SWP (thx to my school). I used LyX for short while too.

But now I've realised that some of the things that I'd like to are not possible (at least I don't know) in SWP- like for e.g., drawing graphs, etc. - and some of the TeX files simply don't provide nice pdf output. Also I'd like to integrate all my works that involves MATLAB, STATA, too. By now you probably realised that I'm still at a very early stage.

Few days ago I decided to join this forum (, which I found a bit earlier) - so that I can learn from experts.

I also enjoy cricket, football, and rugby, reading Islamic history, watching documentaries (i'm a docu-junkie :D), and a very keen user of x264 codec (been playing with it for more around 3 years).

Cheers :)

There's a lot of stuff that can be done with LaTeX. Most users (including me) write their documents in the usual way with special developed editors like TeXnicCenter or Kile. Users of SWP are very rare, but pure LaTeX may be adapted for use with this program.
