Boxes in LaTeX
\rubric{From Pascha until its Leavetaking, we pray the following before every meal:}
Christ is risen from the dead, trampling down death by death, and upon those in the tombs bestowing life.
\instruct{(thrice)}\\
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit; now and ever, and unto ages of ages. Amen.\\
Lord, have mercy.
\instruct{(thrice)}\\
Lord {\color{red}[Father]}, bless.\\
{\color{red}[Through the prayers of our Holy Fathers,]} O Lord Jesus Christ our God bless the food, drink, and fellowship of Thy servants; for blessed art Thou unto ages of ages. Amen.\\

with pretty much a single space between EACH line, where \rubric is a newcommand that sets the {<text>} to red, centers, and italicizes, and \instruct sets the {<text>} to red, with no indent and 'normal' font.
Currently I am using:
\begin{tabular}{p{6.0}}
\hline
<all the above text>
\hline
\end{tabluar}
I tried \parbox, but I must have been doing something wrong, b/c it did not work correctly.
Any help would be appreciated.

Boxes in LaTeX
A simple solution would be a framed box by means of standard LaTeX without any additional package.
Code: Select all
\framebox{%
\parbox{6cm}{%
The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.
}
}The \\ command after each line is superfluous.
