General ⇒ Getting "Bad File Description" as error

Hi,

I write a document on the system in my office. It is a Linux Distribution, but I don't think that this fact is important for my problem.

On that system I run latex -> dvips and get a my ps File. No problems there. Now I tried to run it on my Windows Laptop with MikTex and Textpad.

If I run pdflatex, then I get only the obvious messages that TeX can't compile the eps Graphics.

If I run latex, then I get the following:

welcome to the board!
The error message "Undefined control sequence" is coming earlier, so fix this first: why do you use \@mathbb? Perhaps take \mathbb.

Thx for that advice. The problem is, that I tried to fix it. At first it is curious, that that message only occurs when I use latex and not pdflatex. At second I never used \@mathbb. At this place where the error occurs stands an \S which is defined via \renewcommand{\S}{\mathbb{S}}.

I've deleted all lines where this command should be occur, that is all \include and the \renewcommand.

The error still occured. Then I deleted the \tableofcontents, since this is the only possibility I've seen where the \mathbb could be placed and after deleting this one it works.

So my problem has been changed. If I don't use \tableofcontents the compilation works without any problems. But when I include \tableofcontents then the same error as above occurs.

This isn't a prior problem since I can now work on it but in the future it will be needfull to have the \tableofcontents command work.

Can you help me by that?

Problem solved. I looked at the .toc file and find the \@mathbb. Don't know why it is written in this file but OK. I deleted the .toc file and run again my .tex including the \tableofcontents. Now it works fine.

Thanks for the help, I don't thought that the Undefined Sequence Message was crucial for the problem.
