Help! I have a Lyx document with a bunch of figures, and for some reason all of their captions are left-justified except for the caption for the first figure, which seems to remain center-justified no matter what I do.
I've tried deleting the figure and "re-creating" it, selecting the caption and choosing "left" under "alignment" in the dialog box under "Edit->Paragraph Settings". No dice. Even the Lyx source doesn't look different between the first figure and the others.
Does anyone know what causes this? Thanks in advance!

Re: Figure caption won't left-justify
Hi there,
I don't know what causes this. But to try to help a bit, and mainly to get the ball rolling, you could give us a bit more details on what happens. You are using Lyx, but how do you compile (into .dvi or .pdf directly), which viewer do you use to see the end result??? Have you tried opening your document with another viewer??? Maybe it is just a problem with the layout on the display. Have you tried printing your document???
Otherwise, have you tried centering the other captions (that are left-aligned)??? How about if you don't add any restrictions to the alignement of your captions, are they all looking the same???
With a bit more information, I am sure we will find a suitable solution!!!
Cheers

Re: Figure caption won't left-justify
OK. Sorry my last post was a little light on details....
I compile directly into PDF. I've tried using all 3 PDF "Export" options (dvipdfm, pdflatex, ps2pdf) and the problem persists. I'm not sure how compiling into dvi works.
I view the output using Acrobat Reader. I'm not sure what other viewers I should use. I've printed it and the problem persists.
I have all of the captions set to "Use Paragraph's Default Alignment (Justified)". I've tried using that option as well as others (forcing left justification) for the first caption, but nothing has worked.
Unfortunately I'm not allowed to center all the captions...
