Microsoft Word Fractions

Post by wrightjj »

I'm looking for a way to write fractions in LaTeX the way Microsoft Word automatically formats fractions. I've tried a couple of different methods, but haven't arrived at anything I really like yet:

\newcommand{\frak}[2]{\ensuremath{^{#1}/_{#2}}}

and

\newcommand{\frakk}[2]{\ensuremath{\scriptstyle #1/#2}}

Is there anything built into LaTeX that I just haven't found yet? If not, anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

Perhaps you mean using nicefrac or xfrac? Both produce faked "real" fractions (similar to ones created by a font designer by hand).
