LyX ⇒ Lyx document file with trailing tilde

Hello,

I just got started with LyX (1.6.2) on Windows Vista. Only used MS word 2003 before.

Everything seems to work fine

I saved my document and quit LyX. Now there are two files with the name of my document on my disk: a .lyx file and a second file with a trailing "tilde" (.lyx~).

May I delete this second file?

Presumably this second file is only a backup. Deletion should have no negative effect.
