I have found several packages, providing the citations in footnotes functionality (http://dante.ctan.org/CTAN/help/Catalog ... rabib.html, http://tug.ctan.org/tex-archive/macros/ ... rib/opcit/).
The problem is that both of them require using theirs bibliography styles. But in Russia we use a special style for bibliography formatting (http://www.ctan.org/tex-archive/biblio/ ... trib/gost/).
Has anybody managed to make one of those packages work with different styles of bibliography?
In fact, I can't understand why the command, providing citations in footnotes functionality should use only a certain bibliography style — I thought these matters were independent.

citations in footnotes
Perhaps you can use footbib in combination with the demanded gost bibliography style.

citations in footnotes
Thank you but it has some drawbacks:
the numbering of the citations is independent from the footnotes, and if other footnotes (not bibliography ones) appear, they appear separated from the citations.
