Graphics, Figures & Tables ⇒ How to get Longtables behind the References section?

As I am creating some Longtables in a new article, I encounter the following problem:
- All longtables show up in my document before the References section
- The standard tables are shown, as usual, behind the References section
- This results in Table 3 (which is a Longtable) showing up just before the References section while Table 1 and 2 (which are standard tables) show up behind after the References section
- Conclusion: a mess as tables are not logically ordered...

Thanks for sorting this out, I really don't see how to reposition the Longtables
