Import from EndNote

Post by monamipierrot »

I want to convert a huge (+500 well done references) from a EndNote file to a .bib, in order to use it with BibLaTeX.
I would love to preserve grouping, some special refernce types I created and so on. I would like to use JabRef but all import/export filters/tool have some problem or simply don't work.
Some experiences and suggestions?
Thanks
H.

Import from EndNote

Post by kaiserkarl13 »

There is a conversion library available from EndNote that allows you to export things in a format BibTeX will understand. It's not perfect---in particular, you'll have to manually edit all superscripts and subscripts and any accented characters. But it will get you most of the way there.

ftp://www.endnote.com/pub/bibtex/

Unfortunately, since EndNote doesn't actually use labels to refer to references in your database, you will have to manually create a cite key for each one you wish to use.

I found someone who created a slight modification to the BibTeX_Export.ens file to create a label for you:
