I am trying to use a tab within a paragraph with a hanging indent. I am using the hanging package and the tabbing environment. They don't seem to be compatible. Any suggestions?

Initially only one suggestion: please describe explicitly what you desire to achieve and where have you run into problems. Illustrating your explanation with some code (in the sense of a minimal working example) would be ideal.

I am trying to format a cv. I would like to have some paragraphs in it where the date is on the left margin, then tab to say 1 inch, then the rest of that paragraph also has a one inch indent.

Seemed like tabs and hanging indents, if they were compatible, would be able to do what I want. I would be delighted with any suggestions that work well. Thanks.

There exist some special document classes and packages to create a CV [1]. This might be better then reinventing the wheel.
