Sorry I'm late

Post by LaTeXitty »

I really should have introduced myself sooner. But anyway, I'm here now, and it's very nice to see you too. Thank you for reading my introduction.

I don't suppose it will really matter to very many people, but history is something very important to me, and the history of music in particular. I learned to appreciate the beauty of good typography while working for the Composition department of a well-known English University printing house, and also hugely enjoyed the few historical journals I got to work on.

So these days, I generally describe myself as a feather on the breath of God.

Better late than never. Many thanks for this introduction of your background and the description of your intention to use LaTeX for typesetting your documents. I guess among the members you are some kind of exotic with typesetting music notes since most of them have a scientific background (including me).

Best regards and another welcome to the board

Hi LaTeXitty,

I am one of those that localghost described as having a "scientific background"; however, I also love music, history of music, and good typography.

It's nice to see you around here.

Thank you for your kind words everyone. Somewhere in the last four hundred years, something changed, but there are still people who see music as combining both science and art. With the development of the internet, I think we are at last, close to realizing, if not surpassing the dream that Johannes Gutenberg tried to realize. I just hope that, even with the commercial pressure that seems to dominate our lives now, it will still be possible to encourage the production of texts, beautifully presented as well as culturally important.
