It may be useful if someone has to use LaTeX but has only access to a friend's or public computer,or to let a friend try LaTeX without installing anything. It can be installed on a CD or on a pendrive; in the former case you will have to save your files elsewhere (for instance by email).
It is derived from Kubuntu 8.04.1, with a few modifications. I have to admit it is not very well done in some technical respects, but this is
not an issue since it is meant to be used live (it may be if you installed it on a computer, but this is disabled by default and rather tricky to do). After all I think it does well what it is designed for.
