how to install fancyhdr.sty on texmaker
Can anyone help me, please. I have just installed texmaker 1.8 and it does not read the file for fancyhdr.sty. Do I have to download that file?

Which LaTeX distribution do you use? Some distributions are providing a package manager for the installation of packages like fancyhdr.

hi, I followed the instructions for texmaker 1.8. I did have an earlier version and it worked fine up til I build my new computer and installed texmaker 1.8. I also tried to copy and put fancyhdr.sty in a separate folder and still nothing happens.

Texmaker is running on Linux, Mac OX X, Windows, Unix etc. and supports several LaTeX Distributions like TeX Live, MiKTeX, MacTeX or the old teTeX for instance. Because you didn't answer my question concerning your LaTeX distribution I cannot tell you the easy way provided by distribution packaging.
What's left is the manual installation, like described here: Installing things on a (La)TeX system in the UK TeX FAQ.

Hi stephan,
I guess i am not too sure. For Texmaker 1.8, I did download Miktek2.7, and texlive, but it seems it does not go into that file to look for fancyhdr.sty. It does not seem to even look at Miktek2.7. Should I put the Miktek2.7 file in the texmaker file and see what it does?
