Citing multiple authors and multiple works in text in Overleaf

Post by XistenZ »

My university needs us to use Overleaf for our thesis, and I'm currently struggling with trying to get citations to work properly in this very peculiar case.
We want to cite more than one work at one time, and those works have two authors. The problem is with the word 'and' and ampersand.

How we want it to look:
"this is just normal text, the following is a list of authors (Name & Name, 2020; Another & Name, 2024)."

The ways for in-text citation I've found has only one way (parencite) that uses the ampersand, but that adds paranthesis that we don't want. I've understood that most LaTeX editors let users hack many things, however Overleaf is very simplified and as far as I understand it is fairly rigid. You import a package and then it does the work automagically for you. The university recently decided to enforce Overleaf, but will not give any guidance on it.
