General ⇒ problem with line numbering

Hi, I use MikteX & WinEdt, and I had a problem with dvi2pdf.
I wrote my document and I didn't have any problem. I generate the dvi and the pdf file. Now I want to line numbering, so I added:
\usepackage[switch]{lineno}
\linenumbers

I didn't have any problem. I generate the dvi file. It shows me every picture in the document, but while using dvi2pdf it says:
" dvi2pdf returned exit code 1 indicating that some problems might have occurred during the compilation"

Can you help me to solve this problem?
