Why does \in symbol becomes \subset symbol in a subscript

Post by Lorsss »

Hello everyone, this is my first question in this forum.

I was wondering why the \in symbol becomes a \subset symbol, once it is inserted in the subscript of a \sum.
It could be a feature activated by some \latex package or even a bug

How about a Infominimal working example showing the problem?

It doesn't for me. The image you uploaded also looks like the two symbols are the same, except the down-sampled image makes the stroke in the center look like it isn't actually there (I see it, it's just fainter than the other lines are). If you zoomed in, I think it would be there.

Hi Lorsss,

welcome to the forum!

I agree with Karl, it's the correct symbol, just the viewer doesn't display it properly. The line in the symbol center is very thin. If the browser integrated PDF viewer doesn't show it when you zoom in, save it as a PDF file and open it with a different PDF viewer for inspecting that symbol.
