Texmaker(1.7.1) on my mac(10.5.5) : spellcheck not working

Post by gajan »

Hi I'm having trouble configuring Texmaker(1.7.1) on my mac(10.5.5).

I downloaded en_US.oxt from
http://extensions.services.openoffice.o ... my/term/88

and placed it at /Library/Dictionaries/

had /Library/Dictionaries/en_US.oxt as my spell dictionary path in preferences.

But the spell check doesn't seem to work :(

P.S: I have also installed hanspell v 1.2.7 in my mac by running ./configure make and make install
$ which hunspell
/usr/local/bin/hunspell

Texmaker(1.7.1) on my mac(10.5.5) : spellcheck not working

1) The english dictionary is already furnished with texmaker.
2) If you want to download another dictionary, you don't use the good location (you've downloaded an openoffice3 extension). The good location is displayed in the texmaker configuration dialog and in the user manual : http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Dictionaries
3) An openoffice dictionary is composed with two files (after unzipping it): one with the .dic extension and the other with the .aff extension
4) You can install these two files where you want. Just use the button at the end of the "dictionary" line in the configuration dialog to browse the .dic file with the file selector.
5) You don't have to compile hunspell yourself. Hunspell is already included in the program.
