LyX ⇒ conversion jpg png gif

Hello,
my Problem is the following:
I used Lyx 2.3.3 on Mac OSX 10.13 HighSierra and it worked fine.
Now i updated to Mac OSC 10.15 Catalina (released october 2019). (while i am still using Lyx 2.3.3, released June 2019)
When i want to see the pdf output-file, I get the following error message:

No information to convert jpg-files into eps-files.
No information to convert png-files into eps-files.
No information to convert gif-files into eps-files.
(In german: Keine Information vorhanden, um Dateien im jpg-Format nach eps zu konvertieren. Definieren sie einen Konverter in den Eintstellungen)
There is no pdf-output file generated.
Can anybody help me please? (I am a „computer-dummie“). Thanks in advance.

Hi Gusto,

eps is used for classic LaTeX in DVI mode, compiling via DVI and PS to PDF.

With jpg and png files, better choose pdfLaTeX as LyX compiler.

Hello Stefan,
thanks for your reply.
There must be another mistake/error/fault. pdflatex does not work. I guess that the path to the Tex-distribution is wrong. Although I installed the MacTex package in the folder "Programme" (in English: applications)
