LyX ⇒ multicols / columnbreak

Hi there, I'm having trouble with the columnbreak-option in multicols. As soon as I insert

\columnbreak{}

after a certain sentence, LyX does stuff I don't want it to do. For example, it adds blank spaces in between lines in that same column randomly.
Sorry for being not able to describe my problem better, but I would be very grateful for any help.
