Page Layout ⇒ layout poem with side-panel for quote

For several years, I've used the memoir package to format poetry that I write. I now want to use a layout that I'm having trouble with in memoir. I'd like the page layout to be split into two panels side-by-side. The left-side panel will contain the poem title, lines of verse, footnotes, etc. And the right-side panel will contain a quote that relates to something in the verse.

I can sort of get this to work in memoir, but the side-panel messes up the layout of the poem title and pushes verse around too.

Can someone recommend a LaTeX package that might work?
