What is »free to use«? Always pay attentin to licences. There are diffenrences when using a picture for personal, educational or commercial use.

First of all, 100% of your contributions until this date are allways useful and precise, as well as your advices. For instance, your advice in your answer was useful for me to identify what I am looking for.

I am looking for a database of images in which I type a keyword and a collection of related images are presented to me. Choosing the preferred one, I download it, in .png, for instance, and use it in the graphicx package.

What I am worried about is my interest to use this image in articles and a book I am writing. The book will be ISSN´ed by Intech (free books). But the articles will depend on the publisher, i.e., the publisher (not me) can sell my article. And I am interested to avoid any kind of problems regarding copyrights using these images (something like the gnu binaries... probably?).

Presenting this scenario I kindly ask you:
A) Can your recommended source can be used for my interests?
B) Can your recommended source can be used for my book?
C) Can your recommended source can be used for my articles?
D) If your answer is 'not' for my previous two questions, can you
recommend any other source?

Hi Mr. Thorsten,

You are 100% right in you question. The only relationship my question has with LaTeX is the fact that I will call it using the graphicx package in a picture command.

But, I am pretty sure this forum is the place where I will find the best answer to this question, as well as a minimum number of LaTeX users have this same question and will consider this topic useful.

Hi,

I have not used MS "Clipart". But if you want a database of pictures/images, look at Open Clipart. IIRC, the images there are free to use. As a bonus, they are svg's. So, with a program like Inkscape, you can edit/convert it to any size without loss of clarity.

By the way, SVG can be converted to PDF for including in LaTeX documents, furthermore there's a converter from SVG to TikZ, which I used here, also TikZ images can be included and modified.

Free for commercial use without attribution. Also you can use their clipart designs as the main element for printing and craft projects.
