metapost custom drawarrow

Post by rahulchoudhary »

Hi,

1. How do I make a custom draw command in metapost?
I wish to make a command similar to drawarrow, lets say drawpolaris.
drawpolaris will be an arrow with a builtin star, like -*->, a centimeter long, to indicate the heading of polaris on paper.

2. Started looking at the mplibdir source. this requires CWEB (i use a mac). this requires reading cwebmac.tex, which is taking an inordinately long time to compile in TeXworks. The pdftex process seems to be sleeping with this console output,
This is pdfTeX, Version 3.14159265-2.6-1.40.20 (TeX Live 2019) (preloaded format=pdflatex)
restricted \write18 enabled.
entering extended mode
(./cwebmac.tex
LaTeX2e <2018-12-01>
)
*

Thus, these are two questions actually. Any other way to achieve this will be highly appreciated, as am on a learning curve to build CWEB on mac, understand metapost source code, and all the good stuff.

Thanks,
Rahul
