MiKTeX and proTeXt ⇒ Miktex 2.7 image weird rendering problems

Fist of all hello

I have miktex 2.7 on my 32-bit Vista. I was also using ghostscript 8.61.

Everything was working fine, I managed to write my thesis on LaTeX, with eps images included.

The problem is that for some reason I cannot anymore see dvi with images on yap.

• I tried to uninstall/re-install ghostscript (tried versions 8.53, 8.60, 8.61 & 8.63) but still nothing.
• I tried to uninstall/re-install Miktex but still nothing.

The weird thing is that

• On other vista machines I can see correctly my dvi!
• If I latex->dvips and open the ps with gsview I see the document correctly
• If I open eps images with gsview they are displayed propperly while on yap they do not.
• I have tried using all sorts of eps, including samples from the internet (just in case I had a messy eps)
• 2 weeks ago it was working!!!

Hi,

I too have had similar problems with rendering figures using yap. The error that you have been encountering only occurred for me when the dvi file was in "My Documents". Moving the latex files and figures to another location e.g. a folder on the root of the C: drive, solved the problem. No error message and the figures displayed perfectly.

This is only a work around and doesn’t really solve the main cause of the problem which is still a mystery to me.
