align pictures (not in latex)

Post by frcom »

Hello everybody,
I'm wondering if someone here can help me because I have a question which is actually not latex but I really don't know where else to ask. I'm writing an biological article and have a lot of pictures which I need to align . My question is, how do you align a row of pictures to one big pictures? Some of my colleges use simply the align function of MS PowerPoint, but first, I think this is actually not a nice solution and last, I'm working with Linux and LibreOffice can't align pictures like that.
My next Idea was it to align the pictures in latex with a lot of minipages inside the \begin{figure} \end{figure} to get one big figure with only one caption but this is a hell lot of work and I think there must be a more simple solution.
I'm sorry to bother you with something like that but I think I can't find a more scientific community as a latex community...
Thanks for every Idea!
Have a nice day :)

I know what you are trying to do. But i have absolutely no clue what software you are using.
You mention PowerPoint, libre Office and Latex, yet you don't want to use LaTeX. Can you understand my confusion?
The smart way: Calm down and take a deep breath, read posts and provided links attentively, try to understand and ask if necessary.

Yes I can understand your confusion...
What I tried to say:
I can't use PowerPoint and LibreOffice (so this is actually not relevant for you :D)
I don't want to use Latex because it takes to much time

So I am looking for another software that can easily be used to align pictures.
I hope you can get me now.
Regards

Aligning pictures in Powerpoint or LibreOffice should be easy. And it is quite easy with LaTeX.

I am not aware of any software that makes the task even easier.

Aligning with LaTeX can be automated.

If you look for other software, that's not LibreOffice or PowerPoint, well there is Microsoft Visio with powerful alignment, but it costs money and also needs learning the tool.
