In general LyX has a great user interface, except when using the beamer class. With the beamer class the behaviour is a bit erratic. When hitting return in a Standard paragraph it switches to Frame, when deleting a line the result is almost unpredictable, etc.
In this respect, previous versions, with the explicit introduction of separators between frames, were easier to use.
