problems when opening my document

welcome to the forum!
Do you have a backup copy of your thesis? Such as on a USB flash drive?
Before you try anything, you should make (another) backup copy of your whole document folder. Just in case, to not break it further. If the .lyx document is lost, perhaps you keep an backup file or can at least rescue content from the PDF file.
Can you post your .lyx file here, as attachment to a post? The Attachments link is below the text edit field, when writing a post.
