LyX "LaTeX Error: File `subscript.sty' not found."

Post by ndorloff »

Hi All,

I have seen several bug reports about this for LyX. I have searched for a while but I have not actually found a clear solution.

When I try to make subscripts in my windows XP version of LyX I get the following error "LaTeX Error: File `subscript.sty' not found.". In description, it says "*** (cannot \read from terminal in nonstop modes)". It works fine on my mac, but it is driving me crazy on my PC.

I have uninstalled both MiKTeX and LyX multiple times, and still it does not work.

Please help.

Hi,

you can install the subscript package from CTAN.

For information regarding the installation have a look at: How can I manually install a package on MiKTeX (Windows).

Hi Stefan,

Thanks for replying. I am not sure I can follow your instructions. Forgive me for my ignorance, but it is not clear how I download anything from the link you attached.

Thanks. I appreciate your patience.

Hi Nate,

no problem, the direct download link from that page is this: http://ctan.org/tex-archive/macros/late ... /fragments. There's subscript.sty. If you would like to do it quickly or for testing, download subscript.sty there and put it into the same folder like your main document.

Please help. I have a similar problem. I get the subscript.sty file not found and the description say \onehalflinepacing.

I recently started using the lyx 2.0 and have just done my first preview and getting this error. The problem is I have no idea how to enter that code to solve this. I am pretty new on lyx and just using it to write my thesis, which is basically finished and due in on Monday! I just need to get to a printable format

This post is a little old, but for anyone that comes across this I found the answer was to install the texlive-latexextra package in my distribution (Arch linux). After this installed I had not further problems.

You shouldn't need that package. Subscripts are defined in the kernel for years.
The smart way: Calm down and take a deep breath, read posts and provided links attentively, try to understand and ask if necessary.
