Times font with italics adds bold under macOS high sierra

Post by Nhaps »

After I switched to macOS high sierra, my PDF output for the font Times adds an unintended bold whenever I use italics. This does not happen with Times New Roman, but I would like to use Times because the italics is not as slanted.
Using MacTeX 2017, Sublime Text, XeLaTeX.

Times font with italics adds bold under macOS high sierra

Hi,

LaTeX should not change such things by itself. Since you said you changed the Mac OS version but not the LaTeX code, I think it is a PDF viewer issue. So try different viewers, such as the Mac OS X preview, and the Adobe Reader, and compare. The same LaTeX code should generate the same output on different operating systems.
