please make \tau bigger, thanks.
play around with it, whatever you do, if you can make \tau bigger without changing the font, I would appreciate it.
I tried leftroot and uproot and they simply don't work with this font.

In this newest version of lyx, it seems that the default keys for paste is changed.
If I have $acb$ together, and want to change the order of them, I can no longer select b inside the math environment and do ctrl+x then move my cursor to the middle of a and c and then press ctrl+v. What happens is ...

actually i solved it.
assuming you have done what i did in the OP, next
download v2.9.2.164 (203M) from here
then install etoolbox under MiKTeX package manager.
then change document class to article(Ctex) under document settings.
the language encoding i used is GBK.

Can't seem to compile chinese
I installed the packages listed here :
cjk and arphi.
as you can see below:

i reconfigured, quit and ran lyx again.
i changed my document setting to GBK, when i compile, this happens:

similarly, Unicode(CJX)(utf8) doesn't work either.
i then changed my document setting to EUC ...

oh i think i found the reason, i accidentally choose "left" alignment instead of justified.

Why is there an extra line between the word "Theorem x" and the actual theorem? this happened suddenly, there is an extra line between the words that point out the environment (like definition/theorem/remark) and the actual texts.
