The problem has been solved. I installed Lyx 1.661 with the alternative installer and that made it work. I don't quite understand why that is so, but at least I am glad that the problem is solved now.

This would be the best opportunity to learn the LaTeX syntax and use one of the editors introduced on the index page of the forum. Or give TeXmacs a try [1]. It offers similar functions.

You don't write something about the LyX version. Make sure that you got the latest one. Nevertheless this problem seems to be more related to your operating system. Contact the developers on the LyX homepage. Feel free to report new insights here.

I just installed Lyx on Win 7, 64 Bit, German. Lyx is also in German.

there is one big problem with Lyx that I can't work around. Any time you click on something, which should open a file window (e.g., open a file, new file from template, save as, open a skin file, ...) LYX goes to background ...
