Don't know if there is a 'proper' way, but I open the pdf in acrobat reader and use the picture function to save a part of the document.
As long as you zoom in so the equation is large on the screen, you keep the quality. Using that method I made the picture I used in this thread

Equation array - how to add {
I have four different equations aligned on four separate rows (using the eqnarray environment). I would like to add one large "{" stretching along the entire left hand of my equation array. How do I do that ?

I'm having some problem formatting a segment of my paper into two columns.
I wish to put a figure next to an equation, and the "easiest" way would be to make two columns - how do I do that ? I know how to do it for a figure and a text segment, but how do I do it for a figure and an equation ...
