I have a 15" MBP and do not have Retina support in Lyx (I have had some stability problems with Lyx as is, so I stay away from patches & forks... I didn't even know they existed, to be honest). While I would love to Retina support in Lyx, I can tell you that IMHO it is usable in its current state ...
